Crafts are a great way to practice following directions, learning from mistakes, expressing your creativity and working with others. Check out this festive craft this holiday season!

Materials Needed:

1. Construction paper (1 piece per tree)
2. Glue
3. Markers
4. Scissors *kid-safe or have an adult do the cutting)
5. Popsicle Sticks (15 per tree)
6. Sequins, glitter, and/or small beads

Step 1 – Color 14 popsicle sticks green (or whatever color you would like your tree to be) and 1 stick brown (or the color you want the stump of the tree to be).

Step 2 – Lay the sticks horizontally on the construction paper to build your tree. You will need to cut a few popsicle sticks to make them shorter as you get to the top of the tree.

Step 3 – Once your sticks have been placed, take one stick off at a time, place a line of glue on the back side and stick it to the paper. Repeat the process until all the sticks are glued down to the paper. Cut your brown stump stick in half and glue it vertically at the base of your tree.

  • This can get messy and can require control and patience. Take breaks and deep breaths when needed!

Step 4 – Time to be patient! Let the tree dry for 30 minutes to an hour.

Step 5 – Once the sticks are stuck to the paper, dot the tree with glue and decorate it with sequins, glitter, and/or small beads.

Step 6 – Let the beads, sequins, and glitter dry.

Step 7 – While your tree is drying, draw a tree topper on a piece of construction paper (this can be a star, a character, or your favorite toy). Cut the topper out and glue it on the construction paper on top of the tree.

Step 8 – Once it is dry, it’s time to enjoy your tree! You can hang it on a window for all to see, or give it to a friend or family member as a gift.

Happy Holidays!
